Synology High Availability
How does it work?
SHA combines two Synology NAS servers into one high-availability cluster (or HA cluster). One server assumes the role of active server, while the other becomes a standby passive server. The active server handles all data requests and services, while everything is continuously replicated to the passive server. This provides a complete hardware and data redundancy solution in case of unforeseen accidents. Watch the video to learn more about SHA. See more videos from Synology
Real-time protection
With the real-time data mirroring mechanisms, all the data that is successfully written to the hard disks of the active server is replicated to the passive server in real time. This data synchronization ensures that in the event of hardware failure, all replicated data can be accessible soon after.
Automatic fail-over
The two servers communicate via a Heartbeat connection. When the active server becomes unavailable, the passive server automatically kicks in to ensure file services and applications can be recovered within minutes. The smooth transition maximizes service uptime to help businesses achieve service continuity.
Intuitive troubleshooting
The time and effort required to resolve issues is critical. The Synology High Availability interface provides comprehensive visual information as well as easy-to-follow solutions to ensure an intuitive troubleshooting experience.
Robust HA solution
Synology High Availability makes the cluster robust and stable for resource-demanding services, such as storage for virtualization. With real-time data replication, the passive server can resume the majority of running services whenever needed.
