Installing Synology Drive Server

Please read the following before installing this beta software

  1. For evaluation only - This beta software is for evaluation purposes only and should not be installed on critical equipment or in production environments. We strongly recommend reading the Release notes section before installing it. Synology cannot be held responsible for any damages, such as accidental data loss, caused by this beta software.

  2. Not downgradable - After installation of this beta application, you will not be able to downgrade to a previous official version of this software.

To install the beta software on your Synology NAS

  1. Log in to DSM using an account belonging to the administrators group.
  2. Open Package Center.
  3. Now you should be able to find and install packages that currently have a beta version available and compatible with your Synology NAS for public testing.
  4. Remember to click from Installed > Synology Drive Server > Send Feedback to help us out and report any issues or suggestions.

What's New

Synology Drive Admin Console

  1. Added the "Block file downloading" function for My Drive and Team Folders to enhance data security.
  2. Added the "Watermark" function for My Drive and Team Folders to enhance data security.
  3. Supports wiping synced files when users unlink the clients.

Synology Drive (Web Portal)

  1. Supports previewing certain audio and video formats. Supportability may vary by browser.
  2. Supports choosing "Starred" and "Labeled" categories as the destination when the user performs various operations (e.g., creating folders, uploading files/folders, copying/moving files).
  3. Supports opening specific categories on the Synology Drive web portal, such as "My Drive", "Team Folder", or "Shared with me".

Fixed Issues

  1. Minor bug fixes.

Before you start

1. Synology Drive Server package is required to be installed on your Synology NAS.

To install the beta utility on your computer

  • Once you have updated Synology Drive Server to the latest beta version on your Synology NAS, you can install the beta version of Synology Drive Client from Synology Drive web portal.
  • Alternatively, click one of the following download links to start downloading directly.

What's New

General

  1. Supports displaying video thumbnails for videos that were uploaded to the server from the client.
  2. Supports wiping synced files from the clients when users unlink these clients in Synology Drive Admin Console.
  3. Reduced the length of time to initialize and close the client when there was a large number of tasks.
