DokuWiki je jednoduchá a prostá aplikace Wiki typu open source, která funguje bez databáze. Díky DokuWiki mohou týmy vývojářů a pracovní skupiny upravovat stránky Wiki s jednoduchou syntaxí, provádět pomocí funkce řízení revizí správu všech verzí stránek Wiki a mnoho dalšího. V případě potřeby mohou správci omezit přístup ke konkrétním stránkám povolením vestavěné funkce řízení přístupu. Funkce lze rozšířit celou řadou modulů plug-in a vytvořit rozsáhlá úložiště pro dokumentaci.
