Synology Introduces Deep Search for BeeDrive and Announces Acronis Partnership to Enhance Backup and Cyber Protection
BELLEVUE, WA – December 3, 2025 – Synology today introduced Deep Search, an AI-powered file discovery engine for BeeDrive, and announced a partnership with Acronis to include three years of True Image Essentials with BeeDrive and BeeStation devices.
Deep Search is designed to solve one of data's most common frustrations: finding the right file when you need it. Now available for BeeDrive, a portable SSD that automatically backs up from computers, phones, iCloud Photos, SD cards and external drives, Deep Search analyzes documents and images locally to deliver fast, relevant results without sending any data to the cloud.

Image Search — No Tags or Folders Needed
Finding a specific photo or screenshot often means endless scrolling or trying to remember where you saved it. Deep Search removes that hassle. Just describe what you're looking for and it appears instantly.
- By text: Locate screenshots, receipts, business cards or even memes based on the words inside them.
- By description: Search with natural language, like "kids playing in the snow" or "sunset at the beach."
- By time or location: Including cues such as "Yosemite" or "Christmas" enables the system to filter photos based on when and where they were taken.
Document Search — Even When You Don't Remember the Exact Words
Digging through folders or trying to guess the right keywords is often frustrating, especially when dealing with years of files. Deep Search helps surface contextually relevant results based on the meaning of your query, not just matching text.
- Full-text and embedded image search: Search across both the written content and visuals inside documents, including screenshots, charts, and scanned pages.
- Semantic understanding: Use natural phrases like "profit contribution from subscription services" to pull up the relevant tables across your documents.
- Instant preview: Jump straight to the matching slide, paragraph, or section, no need to scroll through the entire document to find what you searched for.
Acronis True Image: Included with BeeDrive and BeeStation for Enhanced Protection
To further strengthen data protection, Synology and Acronis announced a new collaboration that adds a three-year license to Acronis True Image Essentials to all BeeDrive, BeeStation, and BeeStation Plus for one computer*. This integration combines Synology's intuitive storage solutions with Acronis' industry-leading backup and cybersecurity technologies, giving users comprehensive system-level protection with full ownership of their local data.

Availability
Deep Search is available now as a free software update for BeeDrive users on macOS and on Windows systems, and is coming soon to Copilot+ PCs.

1. Deep Search runs locally on your computer and does not upload file content to Synology or the cloud. Optional features like photo location search and cross-language search may use external databases or macOS translation services, both of which can be turned off.
2. Deep Search requires macOS 15 or later with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) and at least 16 GB of RAM, or Windows with an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor, an NVIDIA GPU with 6GB VRAM (RTX 2060 newer models) and at least 16 GB of RAM. It will soon be available on Copilot+ PC.
3. Each BeeDrive device includes one 3-year Acronis True Image Essentials license for one computer. Redemption must be completed within 90 days of your first Synology Account sign-in on Beedrive, or by September 2028, whichever is earlier.
