To recover deleted files on your Synology NAS, we recommend using the Recycle Bin option that can be enabled for each shared folder. Additionally, there are alternative backup solutions and third-party software available for file recovery. Recover deleted files with Recycle Bin

To recover deleted files from the Recycle Bin, you must have first enabled the Recycle Bin for a selected shared folder.

To enable the Recycle Bin:

1. Go to DSM > Control Panel > Shared Folder.
2. Select a shared folder and click Edit.
3. Select the Enable Recycle Bin. If you want to restrict access to the Recycle Bin only for administrators, select the Restrict access to administrators only.
   
4. Click Save.

To recover a deleted file or folder from the Recycle Bin:

1. Launch File Station and go to the shared folder with the Recycle Bin feature enabled.
2. Go to the #recycle subfolder.
3. Right-click on the file or folder to be recovered.
4. Follow the instructions based on your DSM version:
• For DSM 7.1 and above: Select Restore to recover the deleted file to its original location.
  
• For DSM 7.0 and below: Go to Copy to/Move to… and select Move to… to recover the deleted file to the desired destination.
  

Recover deleted files using alternative options

If you did not enable Recycle Bin, you can also set up backup solutions using Synology Drive Server, Shared Folder Sync, or Hyper Backup, which can later be used to recover your deleted files or folders.
