BC800Z

At the moment, the BC800Z supports RTSP for streaming and recording purposes. For complete functionality, the camera should be paired with and managed by Surveillance Station.

The camera is powered by a 12V DC / 2.5 A power adapter or via Power over Ethernet (PoE, IEEE 802.3af Type 1 Class 3).

All camera based edge AI detection features can run simultaneously on a Synology camera. On the BC800Z, Smoke Detection and License Plate Recognition cannot be enabled at the same time, and only one of these two features can be used. All other AI detection features can operate concurrently.

Yes, the BC800Z camera supports night vision. Equipped with a 1/1.8" starlight sensor and a hybrid white/IR light supplement, it ensures exceptional night vision performance up to 31 meters, even in the most challenging low-light or dark conditions.

The BC800Z camera provides edge recording support with microSD cards, which enables failover storage for enhanced system reliability during network failure.

Recording autonomy depends on the bitrate (which, if set to Variable Bitrate, in turn depends on the scene) and the size of the SD card. For example: A 16 Mbps stream will generate about 179 GB per day. Thus, a 256 GB microSD card can comfortably store at least 31 hours of footage.

The BC800Z support the PoE (IEEE 802.3af Type 1 Class 3) standard. As the PoE+(IEEE 802.3at) standard is backward compatible, using a PoE+ compliant switch for the BC800Z poses no issue. However, if you are using a passive PoE switch or injector (which is non-standard), please make sure to select a 48V voltage option and verify that the output power is sufficient to properly power the Synology cameras.

This difference stems from our commitment to providing precise, transparent specifications. The focal length required to achieve a specific field of view is directly tied to the camera's sensor size.

To deliver a wide horizontal view of approximately 110° on a large 1/1.8" starlight sensor like ours, a lens must have a true optical focal length starting around 4mm. The 2.8-12mm range is typically suited for smaller 1/2.7" sensors.

Some manufacturers, despite using a lens with a true focal length similar to ours on their 1/1.8" sensor cameras, intentionally market it using an "equivalent" 2.8-12mm figure. This is a marketing tactic to create the illusion of a higher zoom ratio on specification.

Our practice aligns with other leading brands, who also specify the true optical focal length. Therefore, our 4.38-9.33mm specification is not a limitation; it is an accurate and honest representation of the hardware's superior capabilities.
