Taipei, Taiwan—21 January 2026— Synology today announces the launch of the BC800Z, a powerful 4K varifocal bullet camera with advanced AI capabilities. Combining sharp imaging, low-light performance, certified durability, and intelligent analytics, the BC800Z is designed to deliver smart and reliable surveillance for modern businesses.
"The BC800Z builds on a decade of Synology's expertise in AI computer vision, bringing advanced analytics such as License Plate Recognition, Smoke Detection, and People and Vehicle Counting to the edge for faster, more responsive monitoring," said Josh Lin, Director of Synology's Surveillance Group. "With 4K clarity and superior low-light performance, the BC800Z delivers reliable, high-performance surveillance and exceptional value for demanding security deployments."
A sophisticated AI camera for meticulous surveillance
The BC800Z delivers 8MP (3840×2160) resolution at 30 FPS with a 4.38–9.33 mm zoom lens and a horizontal field of view from 112.1° to 47.5°, offering crisp imaging and flexible coverage. A 1/1.8" starlight sensor paired with hybrid white/IR illumination ensures clear visuals in low-light environments. Built with an all-aluminum body and certified with IP66, IP67, and IK10 ratings, the BC800Z offers robust durability for reliable operation in demanding surveillance environments.
Smarter AI detection for easy monitoring
The BC800Z delivers AI-driven recognition and event detection directly at the edge, ensuring ultra-low latency and highly efficient performance. It supports Smoke Detection, License Plate Recognition, and People and Vehicle Counting, enabling fast, intelligent incident detection. Enhanced with advanced analytics features such as Intrusion Detection, Instant Search, and Auto Tracking, the BC800Z empowers users to respond proactively to events and safeguard their property with greater speed, precision, and confidence.
Secure and safe, always reliable
The BC800Z integrates protection across every layer, from system integrity to data transmission and storage. HTTPS and SRTP provide end-to-end encryption for video and data, while the microSD card failover mechanism ensures recording during network interruptions. The BC800Z is NDAA/TAA compliant, making it suitable for government and enterprise deployments. Together, these features protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical surveillance data.
Flexible licensing for greater transparency
Starting with the BC800Z, Synology will offer device licenses and cameras separately to provide users with greater flexibility and transparency in deployment. With built-in camera licenses already included in Synology NAS and DVA products, this new model allows users to purchase additional licenses only when needed. Camera pricing for the BC800Z and future models will be adjusted to reflect the new structure, delivering greater value and cost efficiency.
Availability
The BC800Z is now available through Synology partners and resellers. For more information, please visit: https://www.synology.com/products/BC800Z
