Synology® introduces PAS3600, bringing active-active storage to mid-sized organizations

Taipei, Taiwan – November 4, 2026 – Synology^® today introduced the PAS3600, an active-active storage system designed to provide uninterrupted operation, data protection, and data efficiency for mid-sized organizations.

Active-active architecture

The PAS3600 runs an active-active architecture on SATA drives, and non-disruptive failover ensures uninterrupted data access. Its 2U 12-bay chassis scales to 24 drives with a single PAX212 expansion unit. Storage can be configured as HDD-based, all-flash, or hybrid.

Access is available through multiple file and block protocols. Performance reaches up to 607K read and 180K write IOPS on 4K random NFS, with sequential speeds of up to 6,053 MB/s read and 3,650 MB/s write over SMB.

The PAS3600 runs DSM Enterprise, a unified storage operating system optimized for high-availability workloads.

• Uninterrupted operation: The PAS3600 maintains non-disruptive file serving, virtualization, and database services for organizations with 100 to 1,000 employees. Continuous Availability Manager and hardware fault failover sustain operations at the system level, while IP Failover and Multi-Path I/O preserve client connections at the network level.

• Data protection and security: Snapshot Replication and Hyper Backup protect data on and off the system. A KMIP remote key client lets organizations manage encryption keys on an external server.

• Data efficiency: Inline and post-process deduplication and compression reduce the storage that data consumes. Storage Efficiency, Hybrid Share, and Synology Tiering will arrive in subsequent software updates.
