Synology^® Releases VisualStation VS60 Firmware Update with Enhanced IP Camera Live-view Quality and other Improvements

Taipei, Taiwan—May 5, 2010—Synology^® Inc. today released the firmware update 1.1-0059 for its surveillance live-view appliance, the Synology VisualStation VS60. This update includes IP camera live-view quality and several improvements.

The Synology VS60 is a live-view appliance designed for monitoring multiple IP cameras managed with the Synology DiskStation and displaying the live-view videos on connected LCD monitor or TV screen via VGA port. Its built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor) efficiently processes images, lowering power usage down to only 5.2 Watts for the entire system, providing an economical solution for smaller scale setups. In addition, the Synology VS60 offers the convenience of live-viewing cameras in a multi-screen wall format for large-scale deployments.

"This firmware update has included several enhancements and we encourage all Synology VS60 users to upgrade to this version," commented Rosiel Lee, product manager of Synology Inc. The major improvements include:

1. Synology DiskStation is now able to manage VS60 in a different sub-net.
2. The boot-up time is greatly shortened.
3. System performance and stability is improved.
4. Camera general compatibility with the Synology VS60 is improved.

The Synology VS60 once upgraded to 1.1-0059 must work with Synology DiskStation with DSM version DSM 2.3-1154 onward.
