Release Notes for DS audio

Discover a new and pleasant way to enjoy music on your Android phones and tablets wherever an Internet connection is available. DS audio allows you to browse your DiskStation’s music library while playing it in the background, as well as displaying the lyrics of the song being played. You can also control music playback on connected speakers in a simple and convenient way.

Important Notes

Updated to be compatible with Advanced Media Extensions 3.0.
AAC-encoded content can be decoded and natively played back by most end devices, such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs. Server-side transcoding of AAC-encoded content has been a redundant and resource-consuming process that was removed starting from DSM 7.1.1.
- Playback of AAC files via Chromecast is no longer supported.
- Playback of M4A (recordings made on iPhones) is no longer supported.
- Removed options for transcoding AAC files.

Compatibility & Installation

This version is the last version that supports DSM 3.2 and below. It is recommended that you update to DSM 4.0 or above to use the next version of DS audio.
