How to access and manage your Synology NAS using a mobile web browser
Purpose
This article shows you how to use DSM mobile on your mobile browser to access and manage user accounts, shared folders, services, applications, and system information.
Environment
- Your Synology NAS and your mobile device are connected to the same local network.1
- DSM is installed and you have created at least one volume and shared folder.2 3
- You are using a user account belonging to the administrators group (Only DSM users belonging to the administrators group can access DSM mobile).
- DSM mobile works on any browsers supported on iOS or Android.
- This article uses iPad for example.
Resolution
Manage your Synology NAS with DSM mobile
Follow the steps below to start using DSM mobile:
- Open your mobile web browser.
- In the address bar, enter the IP address of your NAS.
- Enter your DSM account name and password and tap Sign In.
Manage user accounts
To create a new user:
- Go to User and Group and select +.
- Enter the name and password for this user. Select Done when finished.
To delete an existing user:
- Go to User and Group, and select the user that you want to delete.
- Tap Delete (Warning: the user and the user's Home folder will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered).
To edit users' information and access permissions:
- Go to User and Group, and select the user you want to edit.
- Change the information and options as you wish.
- You can also edit the access privileges of each user to different shared folders and applications:
- For shared folder permissions: Select Shared Folder Permissions. Select the desired shared folder and change the user's access privilege to No access, Read/Write or Read only as desired.
- For application permissions: Select Applications. Select the desired application and choose Allow or Deny to set the user's access permissions for each application.
- Go to Shared Folders, and click +.
- Enter a name for the new shared folder, then tap Done.
- Go to Shared Folders, and select the shared folder you want to edit or delete.
- Enter the information you want to edit for the shared folder, then click Done. If you want to delete the folder, tap Delete Shared Folder (Warning: The shared folder will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered).
- Go to Shared Folders, and select the shared folder which permissions you want to edit.
- Select User Permissions or Group Permissions and change the user's or group's access privileges to No access, Read/Write or Read only as desired.
- Go to Services to see a list of available DSM services.
- Tap the options, switching them on or off, to enable or disable these services.
- Go to System Info.
- Select the System Info or Network tabs to check the system and network information.
- Find me: Makes your Synology NAS emit a beeping sound.
- Restart: Reboots your Synology NAS.
- Shut down: Shuts down your Synology NAS.
- Desktop Mode: Switches to the desktop version of DSM. Once you've switched to the desktop version, you can tap DSM mobile at the bottom of your screen to return to DSM mobile.
- Settings: Displays your login information and Synology Documents. You can log out here by tapping Logout.

Monitor system status
Even when you are away, you can still use DSM mobile to remotely monitor the status of your Synology NAS.
To check system information:
To monitor resource usage:
Go to Resource Monitor and click on the Performance, Processes, or Connected Users tabs to view the real-time information of your Synology NAS.
Launch mobile apps
To launch Synology apps:
On the left-hand side of the page, you can select the app you wish to open. Doing so will take you to the Google Play or App store on your device, where you can install or open the app.

Select the settings gear icon. You can choose from any of the following options:
