How do I select a Synology product as the host server for Surveillance Station CMS structure?
Details
Surveillance Station Centralized Management System (CMS) requires the host server to deliver a certain level of performance. As the performance may be affected by the number of paired recording servers and IP cameras, it is essential to select a suitable Synology product as the host.
Resolution
We recommend using the following server models as the CMS host server.
The servers were tested in different deployment scales under the following conditions:
- All servers used enterprise-level drives and RAID.
- On the host server, we installed 1/3 of the maximum number of cameras that the model supports (e.g., 50 cameras were installed when the limit is 150). The cameras were configured at H.264@720p@30FPS.
- Notification and Action Rule features were processed by the paired recording servers.

Notes:
- If you have specific storage requirements, visit our official website and consider similar models with the same or higher level of CPUs and RAMs.
- If you wish to install cameras on the host server, do not add more than 1/3 of the maximum number of cameras that the model supports. The system performance may be affected.
- Certain models may not be available in your location. Please contact local distributors for more information.
