My Synology NAS cannot boot up and the Power LED indicator keeps blinking. What can I do?
Resolution
Check the status of the motherboard
- Power off your Synology NAS.
- Remove all attached external devices1 and installed drives2.
- Unplug the power cord, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. Then, power on your Synology NAS.
- Check the LED indicator of the power adapter (power supply unit) and ensure there is consistent power supplied.
- The LED indicator is blinking continuously or not responding: The power adapter may be faulty or damaged.
- The LED indicator is static: Go to step 5.
- Check the status of the Power LED indicator on your Synology NAS.
- The Power LED indicator is blinking continuously or not responding: If the Power button still isn't responding or the Power LED indicator keeps blinking for more than 20 minutes, the motherboard or power supply may be faulty or damaged. You may be eligible for warranty claims.3
- The Power LED indicator is static with a beep sound: If you hear a beep within three minutes and the Power LED light is static, it indicates the motherboard is functioning properly. The issue may be related to the drives or attached external devices.1 Proceed to the following sections for further troubleshooting.

Check the status of attached external devices
If both motherboard and drives are functioning properly, the issue may have resulted from attached external devices.1
- Power off your Synology NAS.
- Attach the external devices one at a time.
- Power on your Synology NAS.
- Check the status of the Power LED indicator.
- If the Power LED indicator keeps blinking for more than 20 minutes, the issue may be related to the attached external devices. Contact the local reseller or distributor where you purchased the product for further assistance.

After performing the checks above, if your Synology NAS's motherboard operates correctly with the drives installed, but the Power LED continues to blink, please follow these steps:
- Use Synology Assistant to check the status of your Synology NAS. Check the status and description in the Status Indication Table to resolve issues with your device.
- Remove all attached external drives.
- Unplug and re-plug the power cord, and then power on the device again.
- Monitor the LED indicator and check whether it continues to blink for more than 10 minutes.
If the problem persists, contact Synology Technical Support for further assistance.
Notes:
- External devices include: Ethernet cables, USB devices, additional memory modules, expansion units, 10GbE network interface cards, and M.2 SSD adapter cards.
- M.2 NVMe/SATA SSD devices on motherboards and eSATA drives also need to be removed. Sometimes the issue may be with the M.2 SSD or eSATA drives.
