Active Backup for Google Workspace says "Action required for Google API changes." What can I do?
Details
The Google Contacts API is officially being deprecated and replaced by the People API. To ensure the functionality of Active Backup for Google Workspace, you must migrate from the Contacts API to the People API.
Resolution
- Sign in to Google Developers Console as a domain super administrator.
- Open the project you created for Active Backup for Google Workspace.
- Click Navigation menu and go to APIs & Services > Library.
- Search for Google People API and enable it.
- Sign in to Google Admin console with the credentials of the domain you wish to back up.
- Go to Security > Access and data control > API controls.
- Click MANAGE DOMAIN WIDE DELEGATION at the bottom of the page.
- Hover over the API client used by Active Backup for Google Workspace and click Edit.
- In the pop-up window, perform the following actions and click AUTHORIZE:
- Remove the following scope:
- https://www.google.com/m8/feeds
- https://www.google.com/m8/feeds
- Add the following scopes:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts.other.readonly
- Remove the following scope:
- You can either return to Active Backup for Google Workspace to run the task immediately or simply wait for the next scheduled or continuous backup. The task status will be updated when the backup is complete.
