How do I edit the permission for folders in the "photo" folder after installing Photo Station?

Purpose

When you install Photo Station, the system automatically creates a shared folder named "photo" as the default destination for uploaded photos. Albums created in Photo Station can also be accessed from File Station as shared folders in the "photo" folder. This article explains how to modify access permissions for these folders.

Environment

Photo Station running on DSM 6.2 or below

Resolution

The access permissions for shared folders in the "photo" folder cannot be modified directly from DSM Control Panel or File Station. You need to do so in Photo Station.

  1. Go to Photo Station > Settings > Photos.
  2. Click Access Permission.
  3. Tick the checkboxes to set album permissions. The Public option allows everyone, with or without a DSM account, to browse the album.
  4. Go to Settings > User Accounts.
  5. Select a user and click Edit.
  6. Click Assign Privileges to edit users' privileges to the albums.
  7. If you wish to limit users from downloading photos, go to Settings > Photos and untick Allow users to download photos and videos.
