Domain Setting
In order that WebVPN, Remote Desktop, and SSTP services work normally, you must set up a self-owned domain name in Domain Setting.
To set up a self-owned domain name:
- Select either of the following options:
- Synology DDNS: You can set up a free Synology DDNS service for every $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$. Since wildcard subdomains are supported by Synology DDNS, you can set up WebVPN with Synology DDNS hostname directly.
- Other: Enter a domain name pointing to your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$. For example, if you enter "vpn.company.com" here, you will need to set up DNS records for the following two types of services:
- For WebVPN: Set up an A resource record with wildcard (e.g., *.vpn.company.com) on your DNS server. Any traffic via the domain name "vpn.company.com" and its subdomains will be forwarded to your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$ to establish WebVPN connections.
- For SSL VPN/Remote Desktop/SSTP: Set up an A resource record on your DNS server. Any traffic via the domain name "vpn.company.com" will be forwarded to your $_DSPRODUCTNAME_$ to establish VPN connections.
- Click Apply to save settings.
Note:
- To avoid errors or security warnings upon accessing these VPN services, we recommend importing a valid wildcard certificate for your self-owned domain in SRM Control Panel > Services > Certificate.
