Major Changes of Synology Data Replicator II

  1. (491, 492, 494, 495, 510, 513, 516, 519, 526, 531, 540, 544) Windows Vista is supported now.
  2. (231) Enhanced: DR II will automatically change port to prevent from installation port conflict
    (276, 424) Enhanced: the ability to backup long file name is enhanced. 240 bytes of file length is allowed.
  3. (319) Enhanced: when installing new version of DR II, users no longer need to uninstall the older version manually. The installation program has integrated the process.
  4. (395) New feature: added an option for the user to run DR II automatically when Windows starts.
  5. (406) Enhanced: Read-only files are now able to be backed up.
  6. (409) Enhanced: open files are now able to be backed up using Immediate Backup and Schedule Backup.
  7. (410) New feature: Windows Domain users are now able to use DR II to back up files.
  8. (413) New feature: deleted files from the PC will also be removed from the “latest” folder on the server so they will both have exactly same files.

Special Note

  1. Upgrading to v2.0.3 - 0460 will result in recreation of photo thumbnails, which could take from hours to days, depending on the photo amount.

Limitation & Known Issues

  • For Windows Vista 64-bit users, e-mail files can only be backed up while they're not in use.

  2. (849) UPnP Multimedia Service is added. The following file formats are supported from this version on.

    • Audio: mp1, mp2, mpa, mp3, wma, wav, raw, ogg, mp4, m4a, aac, ac3
    • Image: jpg(jpeg, jpe), bmp, png, tif(tiff), psd, gif, icon, ufo
    • Video: asf, wmv, mpg(mpeg), vob, mov, dat, avi
  3. (1940) An option is provided to hide the shared folders from being seen in Windows My Network Places.
  4. (2147) "Shutdown" and "Reboot" options are added to the web management UI.
  5. (2168) UPS support through USB interface is added. Currently "APC Back-UPS ES 500" has been tested.
