Synology® Announces a Product Line Name Change. Disk Station is now DiskStation
Taipei, Taiwan—January 6, 2010—Synology® Inc. today announced that the Synology Disk Station lineup was renamed to Synology DiskStation with "DiskStation" as one word to uniquely identify the Synology product line, as well as make it easier for the products to be found on the Internet.
The Synology DiskStation series has gained growing attention from end users and worldwide media. "We wanted to provide a clearly identifiable product name and make it easier to find in search engines," commented Edward Lin, marketing director of Synology. "This change will also help users distinguish between the Synology DiskStation product line and the applications available in the system firmware: Synology DiskStation Manager 2.2, which includes Audio Station, Photo Station, Surveillance Station, Web Station, and File Station," Lin added.
Meanwhile, Synology Rack Station and Visual Station product lines were renamed to "RackStation" and "VisualStation" respectively.
All of the above changes are effective immediately.
