Compatibility & Installation

1. Media Server 2.2.1 requires DSM 7.0 and above.

Bug Fixed

1. Fixed an issue where AAC-encoded files could not be played with Advanced Media Extensions 4.0 installed.
2. Fixed the playback issues of certain videos on Samsung F series TVs.
3. Fixed an issue where deprecated Video Station integration functions were wrongly displayed.
4. Fixed a security vulnerability regarding Lighttpd (CVE-2018-25103).

2. Media Server discontinues support for hardware transcoding of HEVC (H.265) media files starting from this version. This change is intended to reduce unnecessary resource usage as most devices now natively support this format.

2. AAC-encoded content can be decoded and natively played back by most end devices, such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs. Server-side transcoding of AAC-encoded content has been a redundant and resource-consuming process that was removed in DSM 6 starting from this version.
   • Streaming AAC encoded files via Internet radio is no longer supported.
