Monitor wired/wireless connection

To monitor wired network:

Under the Internet Connection header, you can find the IPv4/IPv6 networking information about your Synology Router, and diagnose problems when the connection is down.

  • IP Address: You can identify your Synology Router on the network with this series of numbers.
  • Gateway: This interface device helps your Synology Router communicate with other networks.
  • DNS Server: DNS (Domain Name System) translates domain names (e.g., www.synology.com) into public IP addresses, helping you easily access web pages or devices on the Internet or a local network.

For more information about Internet connection, go to Network Center > Internet. To check local network settings, go to Network Center > Local Network.

To monitor wireless network:

Under the Wi-Fi Networks headers, you can see Wi-Fi names (SSIDs) available on your Synology Router and their corresponding local networks.

For more information about the Wi-Fi settings, go to Wi-Fi Connect.

Track network, CPU, and memory usage

To track general network usage:

For real-time upload/download traffic information between the Internet and your Synology Router (that is, the router itself and all devices within local networks), click Internet to display the Upload and Download area charts.

  • Upload and Download: The current upload/download traffic per second
  • Load Average: The average upload/download traffic of the latest three minutes
  • Load Peak: The maximum upload/download traffic of the latest three minutes
  • Total: The total upload/download traffic of the latest three minutes

For a detailed traffic history, go to Network Center > Traffic Control > Monitor.

Note:

  • In Wireless AP mode, upload/download traffic refers only to SRM traffic and does not include subordinate connected devices.

To track device-specific network usage:

Click Device List to find the connected devices and their network usage.

  • Device names
  • Connection types (wired or wireless)
  • Real-time total, upload, and download traffic of each connected device

Note:

  • The Device List tab is not available when your Synology Router is in Wireless AP mode.

To track CPU usage:

Click CPU to display the CPU Usage area chart and the Load Average section.

  • CPU Usage: The current CPU usage in percentage
  • Load Average: The average CPU usage of the Last 1 Minute, Last 5 Minutes, and Last 15 Minutes

To track memory usage:

Click Memory to display the Memory Usage area chart and Memory Composition section.

  • Memory: The current memory usage in percentage
  • Memory Composition: The current allocation of memory resource

View port status

Click Port Status to check details about all the physical ports on your Synology Router.

  • Status: You can see if your ports are in use by checking their statuses.
  • Speed: The maximum amount of data that can be transmitted through a port per second.
  • Assigned network: The local network to which a port belongs.
  • Wired uplink: You can see if your port can be used as an uplink port – a port specifically used to connect to networking devices (e.g., a switch or a router).
