    • Enable task notification: You will be notified of the task status via email, SMS, or push service. To set up the notification for the task, go to Control Panel > Notification.
    • Compress backup data: Compress backup data to reduce the storage usage on the destination. More backup time is required when this option is enabled.
    • Enable backup schedule: Schedule when the system should automatically perform the backup task.
    • Enable integrity check schedule: Schedule an automatic integrity check to examine stored data and detect corruption, ensuring data reliability.
    • Enable client-side encryption: Protect your backup data with a password to prevent unauthorized access. Keep it safe as we cannot help you recover it. Losing it will lead to permanent data loss.

  9. Select Enable backup rotation to set up the rotation scheme according to your needs and click Next when finished:
    • From the earliest versions: When the total versions exceed the specified maximum, the system will delete the earliest backup versions.

      • Hourly versions from the past 24 hours: The system keeps the earliest version created each hour.
      • Daily versions from the past 1 day to 1 month: The system keeps the earliest version created each day.
      • Weekly versions older than 1 month: The system keeps the earliest version created each week.

    • Backup destination
      • 873 and 22 (rsync)
      • 5000 (HTTP), 5005 (WebDAV), and 5006 (WebDAV with HTTPS)

      • 5000 (HTTP), 5001 (HTTPS), and 6281
    • Hyper Backup Vault for DSM 6.0
      • 6281
  2. If the backup destination you selected is an encrypted shared folder, please make sure it is mounted. To mount the encrypted shared folder, please follow the steps below:
    1. Go to DSM Control Panel > Shared Folder.
    2. Select the encrypted shared folder and click Encryption > Mount.
    3. Enter or import the encryption key to mount the folder.
  3. Encrypted shared folders must remain mounted during the backup process.
