Synology Announces a Series of 2007 New Products

p class="inline">Taipei, Taiwan—April 16, 2007—The new generation NAS designing company, Synology Inc., officially announced a series of new Disk Station, Cube Station, and Rack Station models.

 

Extending the success of 2006 Disk Station models, Synology uplifts the famous series with brand new appearance, better ventilation, and more model options. DS107e and DS107 are the next generation of DS-106e and DS106 respectively, and DS107+ stands in the top performance spot of this series while DS207 is the first 2-bay model from the series that provides high density storage.

Cube Station series has CS407e and CS407 to continue the 2006 models, CS-406e and CS-406. They are shipped with a larger Watt power adapter that supports maximum four 750GB hard drives.

For Rack Station series, Synology has RS407 to relay RS-406. Both RS407 and CS407 also have an upgrade of system performance.

All the above new products are designed for used with SATA(II) hard drive. Users who are interested in IDE hard drive will find DS-106j also available. Synology has also changed the naming rule for all new products by removing the dash sign from the model name.

Software side, iTunes Server is the most anticipated feature for all new products; it allows users to stream music from Synology products directly using their iTunes installed on Windows PC or Mac. In addition, the web-based Download Manager, a counterpart of Download Redirector, is also added in new products, completing the already-feature-rich NAS server as a perfect choice for home, small business, or enterprise users.
