Synology® XS Series NAS Servers Achieve VMware® vSphere 5 VAAI Certification
Taipei, Taiwan—July 24, 2012—Synology® Inc. today announced its XS Series NAS servers now fully support VMware® vSphere 5 vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI) features. Among the first to offer full VAAI support, Synology provides users with leading storage solutions with significant performance gains and effective utilization of storage space.
Synology XS Series provides full VAAI support for intelligent storage server operation and improves the efficiencies in virtualization deployment. The Full Copy feature improves data cloning performance by offloading cloning operations from ESXi server to storage server and enabling virtual disks to be solely cloned by Synology XS Series. With Zero Blocks, the Synology XS series can zero out large number of blocks to improve virtual disk initialization performance and eliminates repetitive or redundant write commands issued by ESXi server. Thin Provisioning integration between XS Series and ESXi server has also been optimized to monitor the space usage more precisely on Thin Provisioned LUNs. In addition, Atomic Test & Set (ATS) removes the need to lock the LUN but instead locks a block when an update needs to occur and improves the performance when multiple ESXi servers access the same LUN simultaneously.
“We have always strived to support the latest virtualization technologies,” said Wayne An, product manager of Synology Inc. “Now with full VMware VAAI support, XS Series helps contribute to a leaner, meaner, and more efficient virtualized environment for all businesses.”
With comprehensive virtualization support, Synology offer users with greater simplicity, agility and efficiency. For more information, please visit: http://www.synology.com/dsm/business_virtualization_iscsi_iscsi_support
