Synology®Hires Professional Noise Level Testing for All Products

Taipei, Taiwan—June 22, 2010— Synology®shows its prudence and thorough professionalism by providing more accurate decibel figures for users' reference during their purchase. Synology has put into practice that every Synology DiskStation model will undergo an extensive test and highly accurate noise level measurement before the official product launch. The measurement will be executed by PAL Acoustic Technology Ltd., a highly professional acoustic testing laboratory since 1999.

Noise as one of the energy perceived forcibly through the ears, is critically important in deciding personal preference on each purchase, which is no exception for that of NAS servers. Given that many of the Synology DiskStation are deployed in small office and home settings, minimizing the noise disturbance and optimizing comfort level and users experience has always been the top priority. In order to offer more accurate values of noise measurements, Synology partnered with the best noise research and testing laboratory in Taiwan, PAL Acoustic Technology Ltd. (PAL). Conforming to ISO 17025, PAL has spent millions building one of the first hemi-anechoic rooms in Taiwan with expert-grade equipments from microphone, calibrator to multi-channel frequency. PAL not only is qualified as an independent 3rd-Party acoustic laboratory of Dell, but also takes the glory of being the only lab in Taiwan certified by National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program by the United States Federal Government.

"Instead of testing DiskStation with limited equipments in a regular, uncertified lab, we chose to work with one of the best in this field for our DiskStation users to truly enjoy the ‘New NAS Experience' in terms of product features and of overall comfort level," said Rosiel Lee, product manager of Synology Inc.
