Details
Since DSM 6.1, the system can detect silent data corruption and restore corrupted files with the File self-healing feature. This article will guide you on how to enable the File self-healing on DSM.
Resolution
The File self-healing feature is only available for shared folders located on a Btrfs volume using the following RAID types:1
- RAID 1
- RAID 5
- RAID 6
- RAID 10
- RAID F1
- Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR/SHR-2) with more than one drive
Limitations:
The file self-healing feature is not available for the following conditions:
- During a repair or parity consistency check of a volume or storage pool.
- Degraded volume.
- Data stored on VDSM or VMM.
The File self-healing feature can be enabled when creating a shared folder, please refer to this article. Please follow the steps and tick the Enable data checksum for advanced data integrity checkbox.
