The Challenge

Lack of footage organization and management with unpredictable systems

Before reaching out to Synology, KFF was monitoring its 50 branches through IP cameras, with footage stored locally on SD cards. Lack of file organization and data corruption made it a challenge to collect and manage the recordings.

"As we were looking to increase the number of IP cameras, we realized that the system we were relying on back then was too unpredictable," said Ibrahim Alshuwaiker, Lt. Colonel at KFF. "We needed a more reliable solution to store our surveillance footage."

The Solution

Seamless video transfer to NAS for convenient retrieval and management

After comparing different vendors, the agency decided to deploy a DiskStation DS720+ at each branch office. Video streams are now transferred directly to the NAS enabling reliable storage and easy retrieval through common protocols such as FTP and SMB.

"Synology NAS greatly simplified our surveillance efforts by allowing us to store surveillance footage on managed devices, which makes it simple and quick to find the clips we need during investigations," said Mr. Alshuwaiker.

"We are now planning to install a NAS at our headquarters to host Synology Centralized Management System (CMS), so that we could manage all the NAS at the branches centrally and remotely."
