EDC achieves significant improvement in storage efficiency and enhanced data security with Synology.

We were looking for great reliability, quality, and support. Synology's solutions meet all of these criteria and more, and come at a competitive price. We are very happy with them.

Needs for efficient storage, downtime minimization, and advanced data management

EDC needed a highly secure and reliable data storage solution for their business-critical production servers and IT services. Meanwhile, with 80 video cameras in their Dubai office plus 16 more in their Abu Dhabi office, the company needed fast and efficient storage for their video footage.

As a 24/7 operation, EDC was looking for a solution that would minimize downtime for their crucial systems, whether due to system issues or scheduled maintenance, and offered more advanced data management tools than their existing solutions.

Active and passive servers employed to maintain steady workflow

EDC started by deploying two Synology RackStation units in an active-passive failover cluster configuration. This has gradually expanded to a total of 12 units across 6 clusters providing high-uptime storage for SMB shared folders. The EDC has found this solution to greatly improve file access and management capabilities compared with their previous solution.

Synology High Availability (SHA) is the technology behind the EDC's failover clusters. SHA employs the use of an identical server, which passively mirrors the main, active server. In the event of planned or unexpected disruption to the active server, the passive server takes over all services. With the help of SHA, the EDC has maintained a steady workflow without interruption, maximizing their service uptime and increasing their IT environment's reliability.

By using Synology systems, the EDC has achieved significantly improved storage efficiency, better data security, and a high degree of reliability, and all of that at a cost to performance ratio that vastly exceeds other solutions.
