NAS devices, shared network folders, and mapped network drives are currently not supported.
Deep Search is standalone desktop software and does not require a NAS, BeeStation, or other Synology hardware.
Deep Search is designed for desktop computers, where it can leverage powerful hardware to run AI indexing and deliver accurate results. It is currently available for macOS and Windows.
If Deep Search is not working as expected, please submit a support ticket for assistance.
Deep Search performs indexing and search locally on your computer and works offline. Your files remain stored on your computer and are not uploaded to Synology or any cloud service as part of indexing or search.
Some optional features, such as photo location recognition or cross language processing, may use operating system services or public reference data. These features do not upload your file content and are disabled by default unless you choose to enable them.
Deep Search currently supports 12 languages including Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
Indexing time depends on the number and size of files, as well as your computer’s hardware performance.
On an M3 MacBook, Deep Search can index about 30,000 to 40,000 photos per day or around 100 documents in 20 to 30 minutes, depending on file size and content. Large PDFs with hundreds of pages take longer. Small updates usually finish within minutes.
