How do I set up notifications for low volume capacity?
Details
You can configure notifications to alert you when your volume capacity falls below a predefined threshold.
Resolution
DSM Notification Settings
- Enable and configure DSM system notifications for various communication platforms. For detailed instructions, please refer to the Notification help article.
- Set the low capacity threshold:
- For DSM 7.0 or above: Go to Storage Manager > Storage > click on the
icon on the upper-right corner of the volume > Settings > Low capacity notification.
- For DSM 6.2 or below: Go to Control Panel > Notification > Advanced > Internal storage, select notifications medium. Then, click on the percentage next to Volume in extremely low capacity or Volume in low capacity to specify threshold values.
Active Insight Integration
If your Synology NAS is registered with the system monitoring service through Synology Active Insight, you can set up Event Policies to customize notifications.
- Go to Synology Active Insight web portal > Management > Event Policy > Metric > Create.
- Fill in the event policy information. For Metric, please select Volume Usage Trend instead of Volume Utilization1 for monitoring volume usage.
Note:
- The Volume Utilization refers to the percentage of access time within a designated time frame, not volume usage.
