Important notes

  1. We recommend keeping historical versions of your files. Consult with your system administrator to make changes to version control. Please note that in ext4 file system, enabling version control takes up twice as much volume space. Refer to the "For Advanced Users" section in this article for more information.
  2. In Synology Drive Client > Global Settings, you can configure whether a file removed from your computer will be refetched from your NAS or be deleted on your NAS when relinking takes place. Refer to this article for more information.

Notes:

  1. Once the team folder has been enabled, Synology Drive and Universal Search will begin indexing the shared folder. The time for indexing may vary depending on the size of the shared folder. Keep in mind that it is normal for the CPU usage of your Synology NAS to be higher than usual during this time.
  2. Connecting via QuickConnect ID may affect the speed and performance of file syncing. If permitted, we recommend connecting via external IP or DDNS instead. Refer to this article for more information.
  3. When connecting via external IP or DDNS, make sure your router has been configured to forward port 6690 to Synology NAS.
  4. On-demand Sync on macOS only supports two-way sync mode and does not support filtering files by file size, filename, or file extension. When enabling On-demand sync on macOS, the Advanced option will become unavailable. For more information about On-demand Sync, refer to this article.
  5. You can sync files others share with you to the local computer. For Synology Drive Client 2.0, this is part of the sync task setup. For Synology Drive Client 3.0, you can edit this option after you have finished setting up the sync task by clicking Edit Connection > Shared with me.
  6. For more information regarding historical versions, refer to this article.
  7. For more information about how Synology Drive works, refer to this White Paper.
