Synology Moments

Synology Moments allows you to organize photos and videos and view them in a user-friendly and smart way. This personal photo storage is an optimal solution for you to manage the photos captured on your smart phones, with the facial and object recognition features making photo sorting and tagging fast and easy. In addition, the dates and locations of when and where your photos were taken are marked in timeline, keeping a detailed track of the special moments captured in everyday life.

Before you start:

Before you start to use Synology Moments, please note the following and make sure you have completed the following tasks:

  • Synology Drive Server is compatible with DSM 6.1.3 or above.
  • The supported browsers include Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer 11 or later.
  • The following packages have been installed from Package Center:
    • Synology Drive Server
    • Universal Search
    • Synology Application Service
  • iOS and Android mobile apps are available for free.
  • Home service must be enabled because your photos and videos will be stored in the folder home/Drive/Moments by default. Please go to Control Panel > User > Advanced > User Home and tick the option Enable user home service. Please note that Domain/LDAP users also need to go to Domain/LDAP to enable user home service.

To launch Synology Moments, do either of the following:

  • Launch Synology Drive, click App Launcher from the upper-left corner, and click Moments.
  • In DSM, go to Main Menu > Moments.
  • To log in to Synology Moments directly through a new browser tab without logging in to DSM, go to Control Panel > Application Portal on DSM to configure connection settings and enable a customized alias or port for Synology Moments. After the settings are configured, type the following web address in the web browser's address bar to open Synology Moments: http://your_synology_server_ip_address/moments/
