Synology® Previews AirPlay™ Support, VPN Center Package and OS Update for Synology USB Station 2
Taipei, Taiwan—May 11, 2011— Synology® Inc. today previewed AirPlay™ support, VPN Center package and USB Station 2 OS update on Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM). Following the software release is a beta program for registered users to test the preview features and offer feedback. The AirPlay support introduces a new way of music streaming from Synology DiskStation to AirPlay devices. Business users are provided with the alternative to have secure and cost-effective remote access to one's private network through VPN Center. Now supporting features from DSM 3.1, users of the USB Station 2 will have an enhanced sharing experience with upgrades in multimedia support and management features.
“Synology recognizes the trend of sharing multimedia content via handheld devices, and the increasing needs from users to take on this new form of sharing,” said Wayne An, product manager of Synology Inc. When in the same network, users can either stream music from Audio Station or use iPhone®, iPod touch®, or iPad® as a remote control to play music on any AirPlay devices. Music on Audio Station can also be streamed to an iOS device across the Internet, and then played out on any AirPlay devices.
For business users, the VPN Center package turns the DiskStation into a VPN server instantly, providing a secure remote accessing solution that is cost-effective, quick to setup, and easy to manage. Once the DiskStation is enabled as a VPN server in the workplace, remote users can access the resources shared within the office as if they were in the private network.
Users of the Synology USB Station 2 can now embrace several popular features from the DSM 3.1 that includes File Browser with advanced search, videos, photos and documents preview; AirPlay and AirPrint® support; Download Station with BT search and RSS feeds; Audio Station with revamped user interface, equalizer, personal playlist and ID3 tag editing; DS audio on iPad for its high resolution and enlarged screen, and many more.
