Thanks to the Synology solution, we are able to continue using our existing camera infrastructure, but with a more reliable video surveillance solution that's GDPR-compliant.

The Challenge
in.Stuttgart, the operator of Stuttgart’s major event venues and trade fair sites, sought a new video-management system capable of supporting additional cameras while preserving its existing fleet of approximately 100 AXIS IP cameras. Monitored across 20 endpoints, the system required high reliability and scalability to ensure future expansion plans would not compromise footage retrieval performance or overall stability.
The Solution
With help from solutions provider iCS, in.Stuttgart deployed a comprehensive Synology Surveillance Station solution to manage cameras at both venues. The installation includes four recording servers and more than a dozen VisualStation monitoring and management consoles, all connected over 10GbE to ensure performance and headroom for future expansion.
The Synology recording systems, including the scalable SA series and AI-enabled DVA series NVRs, were installed as high-availability pairs using Synology High Availability, providing automatic, rapid failover during incidents or maintenance windows.
Synology Surveillance Station delivers a full suite of security, privacy, and video integrity features to meet strict regulatory requirements. By encrypting footage in transit and at rest, enforcing granular access controls, and logging all system activity, the deployment enabled the team to comply with GDPR requirements.
