Can I create a mesh Wi-Fi system with WPA3 security?

Details

Synology Router supports WPA3 security starting from SRM 1.2-7742.

To create a mesh Wi-Fi system with WPA3 security, all the Wi-Fi points of the mesh Wi-Fi system must be updated to SRM 1.2-7742 or above. We recommend updating to the latest version.

Resolution

On your primary Wi-Fi point:

  1. Go to SRM Control Panel > System > Update & Restore.
  2. Update the SRM to the latest version.
  3. Update the additional Wi-Fi points running older SRM versions.1

Notes:

  1. In general, the additional Wi-Fi points can be updated with your operation on the primary Wi-Fi point. If not, please do the following:
    1. Hard reset the Synology Router that you use as an additional Wi-Fi point. (Tutorial)
Ignore this step if it is a brand new MR2200ac.
    2. Set up this Synology Router and configure it as Wireless Router mode. (User's Guide)
    3. Sign in to the SRM and update it to the latest version.
    4. Hard reset this Synology Router again so that it can be added to the mesh Wi-Fi system.
