Release Notes for High Availability

Synology High Availability uses two Synology servers to construct a high-availability cluster (HA cluster), with one server being the active server and the other one being the passive server for failover. The active server takes care of all the services and replicates data to the passive server. If the active server fails, the passive server will be promoted to be the new active server and starts taking over the services handled by the original active server.

  2. Fixed an issue where the high-availability cluster could not bind or unbind when network interfaces were combined using Link Aggregation.
  3. Fixed an issue where the status of the high-availability cluster would appear healthy while still replicating data.
  4. Fixed an issue where the high-availability cluster could not initiate failover when hard drives contained bad sectors.
  5. Improved the performance of system failover.

  1. Volume sizes can now be edited while a cluster exists.
  2. VLAN is now supported for the data connection by specifying the VLAN ID on each network port of the active and passive servers.
  3. A management wizard has been introduced, providing an interactive user interface for cluster maintenance.
  4. Link Aggregation can now used on the data connection, providing failover and load balancing capabilities. Link Aggregation can also be used on heartbeat connection, but provides failover only.
  5. When the data connection is down, failover process will be triggered.
