What can I do if the DLNA/AirPlay-compatible TV is not displayed in DS video?

Purpose

DS video allows you to stream videos in Video Station to DLNA/AirPlay-compatible TV for playback. If the DLNA/AirPlay-compatible TV is not displayed in DS video, please try any of the following methods to troubleshoot the issue.

Resolution

Make sure the TV and the Synology NAS are within the same local network

If the DLNA/AirPlay-compatible TV is in a different network from your Synology NAS, videos cannot be played on the DLNA/AirPlay-compatible TV.

  1. If your Synology NAS has more than one LAN port, you will need to check the network your TV is using by going to Video Station > Settings > Advanced.
  2. If needed, modify DLNA Network Interface Device under Remote Player Settings to ensure that your TV is in the same network as your Synology NAS.

Make sure the DS video connection is normal

Try streaming videos via other mobile devices or software applications to check if the problem is with DS video. You can stream videos on your phone using iOS devices or BubbleUPnP on Android devices within the same local network. You can also try using DS audio or Audio Station to stream audio files.

  • If the problem exists on other devices as well, please contact your DLNA/AirPlay vendor for assistance.
  • If the streaming works fine on other devices, the problem is probably with DS video. In this case, please install the tvOS version of DS video.

Make sure the privilege settings are configured properly

Only users with the DLNA/AirPlay Renderer privilege can stream videos to DLNA/AirPlay devices. Please go to Video Station > Settings > Privileges to check your settings.

Check if the TV is DLNA certified

Use the DLNA product search to ensure your TV complies with Digital Media Renderer (DMR).

Reboot the devices

Try rebooting the TV, the Wi-Fi device, and the router to resend the DLNA/AirPlay broadcast packets.

Install the tvOS version of DS video

If none of the above methods work, please install the tvOS version of DS video (available on Apple TV, Samsung TV, and Android TV) for streaming1.

Notes:

  1. DS video does not support AirPlay 2. Devices that only support AirPlay 2 cannot stream via DS video.
