Requirements

• Synology Photos must be installed on the Synology NAS.
• Synology Image Assistant Extension must be installed in the browser.
• The Synology NAS must run DSM 7.2.2 or above.
• Windows support requires Windows 11 22H2 or above and does not include Windows Arm-based computers.
• macOS support requires macOS 12.3 or above.

Limitations

• Synology Image Assistant for desktop requires the HEVC codec on the computer to generate image previews and compressed videos for certain formats.
• We recommend Windows 11 22H2 or above for installing the free HEVC codec, or purchasing the codec from Microsoft Store if the computer manufacturer does not provide it.
• HEVC and VP9 codecs are not supported on macOS 12.3 and earlier versions. To generate image previews for these formats, please use the Synology Photos mobile app.

• The browser extension helps Synology Image Assistant for desktop generate image previews and compressed videos for formats such as HEIC photos and HEVC videos.
• The browser extension detects the real-time status of Synology Image Assistant for desktop.
