Synology Active Insight

Overview

Synology Active Insight combines a NAS agent, cloud monitoring portal, and mobile app to monitor performance, system protection, abnormal events, licenses, and host status across Synology NAS devices.

Active Insight Agent

Requirements

  • DSM 7.2 or above.
  • Active Insight package version 3.0.2 or above.
  • At least 512 MB of system memory.
  • At least 1 GB of system memory for file activity monitoring.

Host Data Collection

  • NAS agent for the Active Insight cloud service.
  • Retrieval of performance data from Synology storage systems.
  • Performance data covering CPU, memory, network, volume, SSD cache, drive, NFS, and LUN metrics.
  • System protection information covering DSM and package update status, Hyper Backup status, DSM login attempts, and file activities.
  • Upload of collected metrics to the Active Insight server.
  • Licensing based on the number of monitored hosts.
  • Automatic change of the host Time Setting to "Synchronize with NTP server" when Active Insight is enabled.
