Toyota GAZOO Racing Europe Supercharged Data and Video Management with Synology

In motorsport, large volumes of data and video streams need to be processed in real-time. Toyota’s racing division in Europe, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Europe (TGR-E), had mounting IT deficits with handling ever increasing video streams. Compared to the scattered systems previously in-use, Synology enabled TGR-E to centralize video storage, backup, and monitoring all on one platform. Even better, TGR-E could easily deploy their setup around the world, no matter where their next project, branch location, or race was.

To revamp TGR-E’s IT infrastructure, multiple Synology solutions were implemented together. Synology’s comprehensive product portfolio and unified operating system greatly simplified the deployment and management process.

Over a dozen Synology systems, comprised of FS, RS, and DS Series units, were deployed. The FlashStations tackled VM workloads and high-performance storage needs, while the RS and DS systems handled lower-intensity data, backup, and IP camera consolidation through Synology Surveillance Station.

Combined with other Synology systems deployed in Japan and at racetracks, the team can easily share, synchronize, and collaborate on projects with other departments and teams.

The introduction of Synology solutions has sustainably transformed the IT landscape at TGR-E. The new capabilities, centralized management, and ease-of-maintenance led to a significant reduction in the IT department's workload and simplified daily operations for administrators and users alike.
