Quick Install Guide: Power Up Procedures

Step 1:

Plug in the power cord according to the picture seen below. Please be sure to use the cable lock on the Disk and Cube Station Series Products. This helps keep the power cord stationary. For the Disk/Cube Station models, please be sure to connect the polygon end of the power cord into the receptacle end of the Power Supply Unit Brick

  • Rack Station Notes
    • The Rack Station does not have a cable lock, also flip the power switch on the back panel to the "On Position", where the "I" position is flushed towards the back plate of the Rack Station.
    • Newer models of the Rack Station (RS407R2/RS408) feature an integrated 1U-power supply, and thus do not have a power switch on the back panel.

Step 2:

Connect the Ethernet cord between the Synology product and your network. You can connect the Synology product to another computer, a router, or a switch.

Step 3:

On the front face panel, press the power button and wait for the power LED to be a solid color. When it is solid, that means the system has finished booting up. For Disk/Cube Stations, it will be solid blue, for the Rack Station, it will be solid green.

The Status LED will be blinking yellow if the disks have not been configured.

Step 4:

You are finished, refer to the next portion of this guide to setup your system software.
