This Hardware Assembly Guide will cover the Assembly Procedure for the DS508 Model by Synology


Step 1: Remove the protective Film

If your Synology product came with a protective film on the front face plate, please remove and discard this film. This is film is used to protect the face plate during shipping, and it will interfere in the operation of the Synology product during operation.

Step 2: Hard Disk Drive Notice

Warning: If you are using a hard disk which has previous data on it, please backup the data before using it in the Synology product. The Synology product will format the hard drive and it may result in data loss.

Note:

Looking from the front of the DS508, where the LED panel is visible, and hard drive trays, HDD1 is on the left-hand side, while HDD5 is on the right-hand side.

Step 3:

Begin by pressing the clip straight down to unlock the Hard Drive Tray from the DS508.

Step 4:

Gently slide out the HDD tray out from the DS508

Step 5:

Attach the HDD to tray using four screws, as shown

Step 6:

Slide the tray back into the DS508

  • Reminder: Make sure that the tray is completely attached to the DS508, otherwise the Hard disk may not function properly

Step 7:

Push the HDD lever back to lock the HDD tray in place within the DS508.

Step 8:

Repeat the HDD installation for all of the remaining disks for the DS508

Step 9:

When installing the Hard drive trays, make sure that the trays are inserted properly using the Hard Disk Tray Rails as a guiding path for the Hard Drive Tray.

Step 10:

Hard drive installation has been completed for the DS508, please refer to the next part of this guide for Power up procedures
