Just wanted to take the time to tell you that after almost 2 years in service, my Synology DS411+II has performed and is still outperforming any other type of NAS I have used before it (and i have tried 2 other brands).
There is simply nothing that can come close both in performance and reliability! The next product I get will also be a Synology for sure.
Keep up the good work guys
P.S. I am also an amateur photographer with a collection of over 30,000 hi-res images entrusted on the Synology device!
One week ago I purchased a DS213+ unit in order to use as a backup system for my work on the PC at home. WOW. I work in IT and have never come across a system which is so easy to configure and use as this unit is. The ability to Air Play now means I can stream my music from room to room, watch my home videos and view my holiday photos on any TV in the house - Brilliant. Good products like this don't just come from good hardware design, but also from the team behind it who show common sense and imagination in the system they have produced.
Thumbs up: I have been using a DS109j since 2009 and I am still amazed that firmware updates are still available for this device too. Other manufacturers maintain their products only 1-2 years. Synology is more sustainable. Thank you!
I owned a DS109j for several years. After a problem on DSM 4.0, I went for a Synology DS112 +. The support team has been of a great help and a great willingness to help me solve the problem. They found the issue and were able to release a patch for the 4.1 version.

I am full of praise and I can recommend Synology by all means. Should I - due to the amount of data - once again need a NAS, with clear conscience I will choose Synology again.

I'd like to offer my compliments to one of your employees, who I contacted on 3.28.2013 for some installation problems with my new DS213+. Here is a brief description of the issue:
After failing to install DiskStation for 3 days, I called your hotline out of desperation. However, the line was overloaded so I left a message on the answering machine and asked for a reply.
To my amazement and joy, I was actually called back by one of your employees. He patiently listened to my description and helped to identify the problem. He asked me to upload a program on my PC, and promptly he was able to make all the necessary settings for my DiskStation and the router.
By just communicating on the phone, I could see that your employee is a competent person who knows how to turn his knowledge for actual help. His questions were specific and he turned them into actions with certainty and competence. While he made the adjustments, I stared stunned at the screen and was fascinated by how quickly and accurately the work was done. Ultimately, the DiskStation was set up as I required. So here again, I'd like to give personal thanks to your employee for his service.
I feel the need to write these lines, as to compliment the exceptional employee for one reason and the other to praise the excellent service which is usually missing from other companies. It would be nice for you to keep this good service. Thank you.

It's been a while since I've contacted you regarding the issue I experienced on DiskStation. You've responded super fast back then and took the initiative to exchange the DiskStation. The new device works without any problem now and I am very satisfied with the product. I will continue to use Synology products in the future.
Even after all these time (due to busy work), I still want to thank you for the prompt and smooth service in Germany. I've rarely experienced such a perfect customer service.

It's not very often that I write to express gratitude to the creators of something I have purchased, but for this product I must... In comparison to my previous products (from various mainstream companies), your DS212j is a shining, inspiring example of what creative and innovative minds can produce. This product, specifically DSM 4.1, is truly remarkable and exceeded my expectations in every way. It's so easy to use, thoughtfully designed, and executes flawlessly (so far). It's only ignorance which would lead someone to purchase the products I have previously purchased. Thank you! A very happy customer.

I just had your Product Manager Jerome on the phone. I would like to purchase a NAS, so I made my choice between three options, and I choose now a DS112 because Synology is the only brand which is brave enough to include all the necessary product support on their website and also include user guides. You are doing good and you deserve to earn a new customer.
I want to let you know that I really love your products, especially the DSM. Please tell the developers that they are doing a great job and keep on doing so.
