With terabyte disks available, the storage space is less of a concern. Users can choose single disk server, or two-disk server, or four-disk server. - General features
- Quiet, small footprint, and stylish. Synology Servers are designed for human environments and interaction, and it does not require the Synology Server to be placed in a machine room.
- Energy efficient. Synology Servers are based on power-saving SoC chip with disk hibernation; this results in great power savings, upwards to 80% when compared to a standard PC Server.
- Redundant disk protection. All Synology multi-drive Servers offer RAID functions to help protect against hard disk failure. Should a disk fail, users can still access their data on the Synology Server.
- RAID disk hibernation. All Synology RAID servers support RAID disks hibernation. Most servers are active less than 50% of the time, but they have to be ready to serve 24x7. Disk hibernation not only saves energy, but also prolongs disk life expectancy.
- Great Mac support. All Synology Servers support AFP Protocol with AFP Login support; allowing Mac and Windows users to share their data in a manner which is familiar.
- Easy to replace disk. If a RAID disk has crashed, the administrator of the Synology Server will be notified via email, or from the audio and visual indicators of the Synology Server. Sending the system back to the original manufacture is not necessary, as it only requires ten minutes to shut down the system, replace the disk, and power it back up.
- Free software upgrade for new features. Synology is constantly adding new features to their servers; users may elect to upgrade their system for free when available firmware is released for their system.

- Photo Station: Automatically resizes the photo files and converts video clips to publishable formats. Once photo files are stored on the Synology Server, it will automatically prepare the files for publishing on the Internet.

A great add-on for studio environments, no need to use a regular PC in order to enjoy music.
