For companies that utilize the Windows ADS environment to manage their numerous employee accounts, Synology servers are a great companion for sharing files without having to repeatedly create the same accounts.

After proper setup on the Disk Station Manager of the Synology server, Windows domain users will be able to use their existing user accounts and passwords to access the Synology server as they would access any network file.

Setup steps:

  1. Go to the Network Services > Win/Mac OS page of the Disk Station Manager.
  2. Select Domain and enter the name of the domain you wish to join.
  3. Then click OK.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
