Synology’s solution works with all three major platforms – Windows, Mac and Linux. So practically you will be able to access DiskStation via any operating system on your PC, Mac or laptop. FTP, SMB and WebDAV are supported on all three platforms. Users can also access DiskStation via each platform’s unique protocol – SMB2/CIFS (Windows My Network Places) for Windows, AFP for Mac and NFS for Linux. Synology also supports UTF-8 protocol, so that files coded in different languages can be properly shared and read across all operating systems.


Recycle Bin

Accidentally deleting something that can’t be restored is always a painful experience, especially when the content is important you. With Recycle Bin enabled, files deleted in a shared folder will be automatically moved into a separate folder. So now you will never have to worry about lost files. Recycle Bin supports protocols and services including AFP, FTP, File Station and WebDAV.
